The Nigerian Twittersphere has gone into overdrive following rumours that President Muhammadu Buhari would be marrying  another wife.

While the sources of the rumours remain unknown, there has been widespread claims that Buhari will tie the knot with Sadiya Umar Farouq, minister of humanitarian affairs, disaster management and social development, on Friday.

A video of a supposed pre-wedding party was earlier circulated on the internet — but was later discovered to be fake.

The video was recorded on September 14, when her family and friends held a party to celebrate her appointment.

To further strengthen the speculations, another video purportedly showing Aisha Buhari, wife of the president, locked up in a room in Aso Villa, surfaced online. It turns out to be an old video.

Aisha has also not been in the country since leaving for Hajj in August. She also commemorated the International Day of the Girl Child.

Although the rumours are false, it still caused an eruption of reactions on social media platforms, especially Twitter.

While a number of users debated on who would make a better first lady, others spewed different conspiracy theories — most notably the “existence of a cabal pulling the strings at Aso Rock”.

“First Lady Admin and first lady Academics. See eh cooking is an easy way to a man’s heart. She prepped all the meals during campaigns,” said a user.

So, just when Aisha Buhari was about assuming her office as the First Lady, Bubu tot it wise to make changes. First Lady (London based) vs First Lady (Home based). Hokkayy,” another Twitter user said.
