The 33-year-old movie star will be expected to protect and serve Gotham City for three upcoming Batman movies.

There were earlier reports that apart from the British actor, X-Men’s Nicholas Hoult, Armie Hammer, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, were among the frontrunners for one of the most iconic fictional characters in the world.

Deadline, however, reported that Warner Bros. approved Reeves’ choice to make Pattinson the new Batman.

“Pattinson has been considered a frontrunner because the filmmaker liked him, but the studio was torn between him and Nicholas Hoult, and wanted both of the actors on tape because this is such a big decision on a cornerstone Warner Bros DC franchise,” the news outlet wrote.

Pattinson is expected to follow on from Ben Affleck in the DC franchise, playing a younger version of the Caped Crusader than Affleck in ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice (2016)’ and ‘Justice League (2017).’
