Rita Edochie, Nigerian actress, says she will not celebrate her birthday for this year as a result of the agony caused in various homes by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Nollywood star took to her social media page on Thursday to disclose that she would rather go on her knees and pray for divine intervention so God can “heal our land”.
“My great people in the world, today April 16 is my birthday but I will not celebrate it because it is only when you are happy you remember to celebrate,” she wrote on Instagram.

“I will be on my knees praying to God to Almighty for forgiveness. I beg him to heal our land. There is so much agony in every home. Forgive us Lord in every way we have sinned against you please oh, Lord.”
The actress cum media personality had tied the knot with Tony Edochie, younger brother of Pete Edochie, veteran Nollywood actor, in December 1990, shortly after she completed her secondary school.
The union has so far been blessed with four children namely Nkiru, Valentine, Amanda and Rondy.
Rita’s decision comes about the same time when the federal and state governments introduced several measures including prohibition of social gathering and lockdown to prevent spread of the killer virus.
