According to PUNCH, Chidinma used the name ‘Jewel’ to book the room at the facility located on Adebowale Oshin Street, Lekki Phase I axis of Lagos state.

The report also showed that the phone number used by the 21-year-old to lodge into the apartment was unreachable after the hotel’s management discovered Ataga’s lifeless body on June 16.

The pair were believed to have checked into the hotel to have fun but the encounter turned into a face-off that led to the demise of the businessman.

Chidinma, a student of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), had earlier confessed to stabbing Ataga “twice on the neck side”.

She alleged that the businessman had forcefully had sex with her the first time but a dispute ensued after he attempted it again.

“At some point, he was chasing me around the kitchen cabinet. I took a knife and stabbed his neck. I approached the door and he followed me. I stabbed him twice on the neck side,” she had said.

“I threw the knife to the bed and he was going for it but I also went for it. He dragged the knife with me and it broke and he fell on the floor.”

When contacted by TheCable Lifestyle, Muyiwa Adejobi, Lagos police command’s spokesman, declined to comment on the matter.

Adejobi said the command will release a statement when the investigation into the matter is completed.

“I don’t know about that. The police is not making any comment about the matter now. When it’s time, we’ll do that,” he said.
