A court has ordered Andre Young, US rapper and music executive better known as Dr Dre, to pay a cumulative sum of $3.5 million annually to Nicole Young, his ex-wife, as spousal support.
In June 2020, Nicole had filed for divorce from Dre. She had cited irreconcilable differences as her reason.
But the pair, who tied the knot in 1996 and are blessed with two children, have been caught in a legal tussle over their prenup.
Nicole had appealed for the prenuptial agreement to be nullified but Dre had disagreed with that arrangement.
According to TheBlast, court documents show Dre is to now pay nearly $300,000 monthly to Nicole until she remarries.
“[Dre] is ordered to pay to the [Nicole] spousal support in the sum of $293,306.00 per month, payable on the first of each month, commencing August 1, 2021,” the court order was quoted to have read.
“[The payments is to continue] until the party receiving support remarries or enters into a new domestic partnership, death of either party.”
It was gathered that Dre is also to pay Nicole’s health insurance while her remaining insurance is left for her to handle.
However, the rapper and his ex-wife are still negotiating an overall settlement and Dre’s monthly payment is temporary.
