The ‘Ebeano’ crooner spoke during an interview with Nancy Isime, the actress and TV host.

During the interview, the 40-year-old also recalled how he and his family lived in poverty many years ago.

Okoye said the family of eight lived in a one-bedroom apartment.

He also recounted how the apartment was demolished while they were still living there because the landlord sold it and they had nowhere to go.

According to the singer, they had failed to vacate the apartment after a quit notice was served on them.

“I’m not afraid of death, the only thing I’m afraid of in this life is poverty and being broke. I have tasted it before,” he said.

“I’ve been in our house and a bulldozer came to demolish it while we were still living there with my parents, six boys and two girls living in a one-bedroom apartment.

“They had to divide the room with a curtain. The landlord had sold the property and we were still begging to give us some time to get somewhere else and the next thing was the bulldozer coming to demolish the house while we were still living there.”

Peter and Paul Okoye, his twin brother, were recently in the news after they ended their five-year feud.
