The police have quizzed Oladapo ‘D’banj’ Oyebanjo, an award-winning singer, over rape allegation by Seyitan Babatayo, a Nigerian lady.
According to PUNCH, the music superstar was interrogated by Adaku Anya, an assistant commissioner of police, at the force Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Garki in Abuja.
The ‘Fall In Love’ crooner was said to have insisted that he is innocent of the allegation in a statement during his interrogation.
A police source, who spoke with the news outlet, said this makes it the second time the singer would be invited for questioning in Abuja.
“D’Banj has been questioned twice at the FCID, Abuja. He was questioned last week and also this week. We will leave no stone unturned as we investigate the matter,” the source said.
Seyitan was also said to have been invited by the police in Abuja for a written statement. She was however, said to have been unable to travel to the federal capital territory (FCT).
“Seyitan pleaded with us that she had no means of travelling down to Abuja. So, she has been given the option of reporting at the FCID Annex, Alagbon, Ikoyi,” the source added.
When contacted by TheCable Lifestyle on Friday morning, Anjuguri Manzah, Abuja police spokesman, said he is not authorised to speak on the matter.
“I can’t speak on that,” he said.
The development comes after the Coalition of Public Interests Lawyers and Advocates (COPA) among others demanded the arrest of the singer for probe over the rape allegation.
