Piers Morgan, a British broadcaster, says Donald Trump has unfollowed him on Twitter after his criticism of the US president’s idea that injecting disinfectant could kill the coronavirus.
The journalist has been a long time friend of Trump as far back as when he was with The Apprentice which was then hosted by the current POTUS.
But in a tweet on Saturday, Morgan said Trump unfollowed him on the microblogging application shortly after his article about him (the president) was published on UK Daily Mail.
“UPDATE: President @realDonaldTrump has unfollowed me on Twitter, hours after I wrote this @DailyMail column,” he wrote.

In the article, the journalist had criticised the US president for using his daily press conferences to air his theories which he called “batsh*t crazy.”
President Trump’s defence for floating batsh*t crazy claims that injecting bleach can kill #coronavirus is that he was being ‘sarcastic’.
FFS @realDonaldTrump – this is not a joke. 50,000 Americans are dead & many more will die. Stop this nonsense & get serious.— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) April 24, 2020
Trump had touted the use of chloroquine, an anti-malarial medicine, as cure for COVID-19. The president also came under intense criticism for suggesting that ingesting bleach could cure the disease.
But in the article, Morgan said “the leader of the free world has turned the daily White House task force briefing into a rambling two-hour self-promoting rally.”
“He’s devoted large chunks of them to trashing the media, attacking political opponents, telling us how great he is, and re-writing history as he tries to defend all the mistakes he’s made since the virus first erupted,” he said.
“And he’s done all this while 50,000 Americans have died from COVID-19, the worst death toll in the world, and nearly a million cases have now been reported across the country.
“But by far the most reckless and dangerous thing President Trump has done is use the most powerful podium on earth to air his batsh*t crazy theories about how to beat the virus.
“And last night he stooped to a shameful new low by suggesting people suffering from COVID-19 should be injected with toxic disinfectant.
“Yes, you read that right.”

Before Morgan’s claim, Trump was following 47 people on Twitter. He now appears to be following 46 people on the microblogging platform.
