D’banj, the singer, has revamped his digital platform ‘The CREAM’ to provide funding and support for fast-rising artistes in Nigeria.

The platform, which was initially launched as a mentorship and support system, has been restructured to offer grants, free distribution on digital streaming platforms, and other resources to emerging artistes.

At an event in Lagos, D’banj unveiled Nasboi and Berri Tiga as brand ambassadors for the revamped initiative.

The platform now allows artistes to upload unlimited content, which is then assessed by industry experts and through a voting process.

Registered artistes stand a chance to receive grants worth between N100,000 and N1 million.

D’banj described ‘The CREAM’ as “the gateway to Africa and Nigeria’s creative hub,” emphasizing that it is not a record label but a “solution provider” for new artistes to showcase their talent.

He said the platform was inspired by the challenges he faced as an artiste and the struggles he observed in the industry.

D’banj explained that the revamped platform would provide artistes with access to professional services, including distribution, marketing, and promotion, without being tied to a record label.

“Considering the vast talent across Africa, particularly in Nigeria, and the limited access to resources, we felt the need to create a system that is widely accessible,” he said.

“The chances of making it in the creative sector, especially music, are slim without support. But what if you could access everything you need right from your mobile phone?

“We initially launched The CREAM as a mentorship and support system. Artistes uploaded their content and won prizes either on merit or through public votes.

“Over the years, we have sponsored numerous music videos, awarded cash prizes, and created platforms for talents to shine. But something was missing.

“On The CREAM, you subscribe, upload your content, and receive professional services without being tied to a record label.”

On his part, Nasboi said he is proof that artistes can achieve success without a label.

Berri Tiga, a past beneficiary of ‘The CREAM,’ expressed excitement about being one of the faces of the initiative.

The CREAM platform will also allow established artistes to re-catalogue their music. Interested artistes can sign up via The CREAM’s official website or by dialing *463# USSD.

The relaunch event featured performances by Nasboi, Berri Tiga, and D’banj, and was attended by industry stakeholders and emerging artistes.
