‘A Ghetto Love Story,’ the first feature film by comedian Basketmouth, premiered in Lagos on Sunday.
The film premiere was held at the IMAX Filmhouse Cinemas in Lekki.
The event drew notable guests, including Frank Edoho, Timi Dakolo, AY Makun, Okey Bakassi, Aproko Doctor, Ill Bliss, and Denrele Edun.
The poignant romantic drama, co-written by Basketmouth and Victoria Eze, follows childhood friends Obinna and Stella as they navigate life’s harsh realities.
Set against the backdrop of vibrant urban life, ‘A Ghetto Love Story’ explores the complexities of love, relationships, and survival in a bustling, lower-income neighborhood.
Through a mix of comedic moments and emotional depth, the film captures the essence of finding love in unexpected places while navigating the challenges of daily life.
The film boasts an impressive cast, including Akah Nnani, Beverly Osu, Patience Ozokwo, Efe Irele, Chimezie Imo, Chioma Chukwuka, and Dorathy Bachor.
At the event, Basketmouth discussed his transition from comedy to movies.
“In actual fact, it’s been a plan all along. I knew I was going to end with movies. So when I started comedy, then went to TV series and all, then went to music, then I started doing music concerts,” he said.
“All along, I knew it was going to end with movies because that’s the one I enjoy the most in terms of everything that I create and the industries that I play around. Movies are my best. Like I enjoy making movies. So transitioning was easy because it was already in the plan.”
‘A Ghetto Love Story’ will hit cinemas on November 22.
