Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, governor of Kwara, has commissioned an ICT laboratory at the Government Secondary School (GSS) in Ilorin.
The ICT lab, renovated by YouthHubAfrica with support from Huawei Technologies, was launched by the governor on Tuesday.
In a joint statement, Rotimi Olawale, YouthHubAfrica’s executive director, and Yangyang Kelvin, Huawei Technologies spokesman, said the initiative is to improve learning and teaching.
The statement added that the ICT lab will also help enhance the creative capacity of secondary school students.
According to the statement, the lab “is equipped with thirty-one (31) state-of-the-art computers, UPS, overhead projector and other ICT facilities, to improve the standard of Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) related courses.”
It added that such initiative has become imperative in the wake of growing importance of technology in contemporary society.
“The laboratory will also improve innovation amongst students so as to enable them develop their skillset and provide a level playing field with their counterparts globally,” it added.
“Technology is a crucial part of today’s world and a key solution towards bridging the current skill gap.
“The renovated ICT will not only broaden their horizon but present the younger generation with global opportunities and position them at the forefront of 21st century innovation.”
