The activities for the 18th edition of AMAA kicked off on October 21 with an Islamic session in Agege.

The prayer session was followed by a Mass ceremony at the St. Dominic Catholic Church in Yaba on October 23.

On Tuesday, over 900 trainees graduated from a three-months-long film camp.

The initiative, it is understood, is from the collaboration of Africa Film Academy and the Lagos state government.

Kingsley James, AMAA’s show director, said the activities heralding the 18th AMAA point to a “memorable edition.”

According to James, other performers include Yinka Davies, Young Jon, Ayo Bankole, Zadok, Matty, Veentage Band, DJ Kenchello, and Gerald Eze.

The road to the AMAA gala night, he said, will continue with activities that include a film and music conference scheduled for Friday, October 28, at the Jewel Aeida Hall, Lekki.

There is also the AMAA Fashion show scheduled for the same day and venue.

The fashion show is expected to kick off at 8 pm.

Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, the founder of AMAA, expressed delight at the activities.

“All I can tell you is that the 2022 AMAAs will blow your mind away. It will be the combination of glitz, glamour, and reward for true professionalism and artistry,” she said.
