A 400-level Physics Electronic student of University of Osun, Osogbo, identified as Adekunle, has been accused of stabbing his fellow student, Kazeem Ige, a 300-level Civil Engineering student.
According to a statement made available by Folashade Odoro, spokesperson of Osun police command, the killing was reported at Oja-Oba police division by Seyi Bamigbayan, another student of the University.
According to Odoro, the two students had a misunderstanding in their hostel on Monday night at around 9 pm.
Bamigbayan was reported to have said that Ige, 24, was left in a pool of blood when the incident was discovered.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was confirmed dead.
Remains of the late Ige was later deposited at Asubiaro Hospital, Osogbo, where an autopsy would be carried out on the body.
Fimihan Adeoye, Osun state’s commissioner of police, has ordered an investigation into the killing and has mandated the police to arrest the suspect.
Adeoye furthered ordered that the institution should be put under tight security, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
