The incident, which he recounted in a recent interview on the Behind The Fame show, occurred during the filming of the movie ‘Eku Meji’.

Opebe explained that the tension had its roots in a prior disagreement between fellow actor Yinka Quadri and Baba Suwe.

He said out of allegiance, he had sided with Baba Suwe, a decision that would have painful consequences.

According to him, a particular scene required Quadri to beat him, but the blows felt far too real, prompting him to ask the director to stop the performance.

“Those sufferings were beyond acting; they were real beatings. That is what they call acting, you have to do it well and real for people to know it truly happened,” he said.

“When we got to the set, and it was a beating role… when he replied to me, it was a slap and a severe beating. I began to shout, ‘Cut! This is not a movie anymore.’ I was angry.”
