Omah Lay, the Nigerian singer, has announced that he would be taking a break from the music scene.
The ‘Holy Ghost’ hitmaker broke the news via his Instagram story on Sunday.
While sharing a picture of himself, Omah Lay told his millions of fans and followers that they would not be getting new music from him “anytime soon”.
“I am not giving you new music anytime soon,” he wrote.
The singer, however, did not reveal the reason why he is going off the music scene and the duration of his break.
Born Stanley Omah Didia, Omah Lay started his music career at the age of 15.
He got shot into the limelight in 2020 following the release of his two hit singles ‘You’ and ‘Bad Influence’.
The 26-year-old has continued to make a name for himself in the Nigerian music industry, especially with his unique music style.
In 2022, Omah Lay revealed how he battled with depression while recording ‘Boy Alone’, his debut album.
In May last year, the singer recalled how he grew up “among criminals” in Port Harcourt, Rivers state.
Omah Lay revealed his childhood experience influenced the kind of music he now puts out.
He recently disclosed that he had started a new sound of Afrobeats and his song ‘Holy Ghost’ was one of the sounds he is talking about.
The singer has also received numerous awards and accolades for his craft.
