An old tweet has surfaced of Shatta Wale, the Ghanaian singer, jubilating over his Nigerian passport.
Shatta earlier took a dig at Nigerian singers who he said failed to reciprocate the support they got from Ghana.
The dancehall singer had, during his sold-out concert, said he didn’t need Nigerian allies to hit big in the music industry.
“Ghana is your gateway. Your artistes know what they get here. I don’t have anything to take from Nigeria to make me famous and make me good cash. “I don’t need the Nigerian music industry to hit,” he had written in a rant.
Amid the backlash that ensued, social media users taunted the singer over his 2019 tweet wherein he was jubilating after obtaining his Nigerian passport.
“Thank God I just got my Naija passport and work permit. Proud Naija boy,” the tweet reads.
Thank God I just got my naija passport with work permit 🤣😂😂😂

Yul Edochie, the Nollywood actor, had earlier disapproved of Shatta’s remarks.
“I remember when Nigerian movie producers were giving all the lead roles to Ghanaian actors a few years back, no Nigerian ever came out to say ‘f**k Ghanaian actors’,” Edochie said.
“I have lots of fans from Ghana who send me goodwill messages daily, inviting me to Ghana and I appreciate all of them. I’m a fan of your music. Your track with Beyonce is always on repeat in my car.
“No matter what is pissing you off, a man like you with a large fan base should be using it to promote peace and unity among Africans and the rest of the world. You should apologise for such a statement.”
