Oga Sabinus, Mr Macaroni nominated as AMVCA 2022 recognises skit makers

Oga Sabinus and Mr Macaroni are among the Nigerian skit makers nominated for the 2022 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA).

Adesua Etomi-Wellington, the actress, announced the nominees for the 8th AMVCA with Daniel Etim Effiong, the film director, via a live stream on Saturday night.

Among the entries that made the nominees list are the on-screen performances, directorial turns, set design choices, song selections, and styling executions that seized the filmmaking community’s attention for the season.

This year’s nominees are of 33 categories but included the newly introduced ‘Best Online Social Content Creator’.

Nominated alongside Macaroni and Sabinus in the content creation category are Tee Kuro, Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori, Jacqueline Suowari, Eden Victor, and Elozonam.

Funke Akindele, the actress, is up in six categories including ‘Best Costume Designer’, ‘Best Actress in a Comedy’, ‘Best Movie W/Africa’, ‘Best TV Series’, ‘Best Africa Magic Original Comedy Series’, and ‘Best Overall Movie’.

Nancy Isime, the media personality, was put up for ‘Best Actress in a Comedy’ and ‘Best Actress in a Drama’.

In turn, Mildred Okwo, the movie director, is nominated for ‘Best Director’ and ‘Best Overall Movie’.

It is understood that an eight-day schedule of activities will precede the anticipated awards night, set for May 14.
