The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) says it will investigate the viral footage showing one of its members who appeared to be punished for an undisclosed offence.

The video showing the corps member allegedly forced to kneel by a school proprietress earlier surfaced online.

Although it is still unclear where and when the footage was filmed, it has sparked outrage on social media.

In the video, the corps member was being questioned by the proprietress and another lady whose face was not visible.

According to the dialogue heard in the short footage, it appeared that the corps member was being punished for her failure to work.

From the NYSC member’s claims in her native Yoruba dialect, she said she had alluded to menstruation symptoms.

The proprietress argued that if she had explained, she would have understood because she is also a woman.

The video has infuriated Nigerians who alleged a habit among employers of bullying corps members at their place of primary assignment (PPA).

When contacted by TheCable Lifestyle, Eddy Megwa, NYSC’s national PRO, said the scheme is still probing the matter.

“We are auditing to know where it happened. That way, we will be able to find out what the issue is,” Megwa said.

“Investigation is going on. I cannot speak until we have information on exactly where it happened.

“We have to know the circumstances that led to it. They could be playing, they could be serious, I don’t know.”
