The organisers of the ninth season of the Nigerian Idol talent hunt reality television show have unveiled its final contestants.
The 2024 edition, hosted by IK Osakioduwa, premiered in April with 9ice, Omawumi, and Ric Hassani as judges.
The top ten contestants on the show were unveiled on Sunday.
The contestants were asked to perform songs that Gen Alpha (people born between 2010 and 2025) would appreciate and they impressed the judges with their individual performances.
Chima, Gracia, Lammy, Stevie, and Lady Ruth will be battling for this year’s grand prize.
Others who succeeded after rigorous auditions and numerous obstacles are David Garland, Maio, Jennifer, Mira Clear, and Chioma.
Nigerian Idol launched the careers of some of Nigeria’s most talented singers including Timi Dakolo, Mercy Chinwo, and Naomi Mac.
Past winners include Chinwo, Moses Obi Adigwe, Evelle, K-Peace, and in most recent years, Kingdom Kroseide (2021), Progress Chukwuyem (2022) and Victory Gbakara (2023).
Gbakara received the grand prize of ₦N35 million cash, a brand new SUV, one Bigi refrigerator, and one year’s supply of Bigi soft drinks.
Other prizes include a music record deal by a reputable label that included a video shoot, a year’s supply of WAW detergent, and a fully installed DStv Explora decoder with one year of premium subscription.
