Precious Mac and Victory Gbakara are the final contestants of the eighth season of the Nigerian Idol talent hunt reality television show.

The 2023 edition, hosted by IK Osakioduwa, premiered in April with Obi Asika, Simi, and D’banj as judges.

Of the 29 contenders who made it to the last round of theatre week, 19 of them, unfortunately, did not make it to the live shows.

The live show aired for nine weeks — between April 23 to July 9.

Of the top ten contestants unveiled on the show, Mac and Gbakara were the ones who made it to the final.

Osakioduwa said 32 million votes were received for the week and that 132 million votes had been counted so far in the season.

Mac has so far thrilled the audience with spectacular performances of ‘Ayo’ by Simi, ‘No One’ by Alicia Keys, ‘Umqombothi’ by Yvonne Chaka, and ‘From This Moment’ by Shania Twain.

Other renditions by the songstress include ‘Rockabye’ by Clean Bandit, ‘Diamonds’ by Rihanna, ‘Beggie Beggie’ by Ayra Starr, ‘Rolling In The Deep’ by Adele, and ‘Overloading’ by Mavin All Stars.

Gbakara, on the other hand, has performed songs like ‘No Shaking’ by 2Baba, ‘As It Was’ by Harry Styles, ‘Falling’ by Alicia Keys, ‘Prisoner’ by Lucky Dube, and ‘My Redeemer Lives’ by Nicole C.

Others are ‘Locked Out of Heaven’ by Bruno Mars, ‘Happy’ by Pharrell Williams, ‘Blessed’ by Wizkid, and ‘It’s a Man’s World’ by James Brown.

The winner will be announced on the live show on Sunday.

This year’s winner will receive the N100 million grand prize, part of which is  N30 million in cash.

Progress Chukwuyem won the seventh edition of the show in May last year.
