A Nigerian artist identified as Peter Enehe has attempted to break the Guinness World Record (GWR) for the longest marathon drawing caricatures by an individual.
Enehe had previously disclosed his intention to embark on the 90-hour drawing marathon in a social media post.
The four-day event was held at the Chinbell Luxury Hotel and Suites in Lekki, Lagos from January 25 to 28.
During the exercise, Enehe drew a plethora of Nigerians who showed up at the venue to cheer him on. Friends and family members also flooded social media with encouraging words for Peter.
In a post via X on Monday, the Kogi-born artist said he has broken the current record at 78 hours.
“And with this, we break the current record. Now the journey begins. A journey to set a new record for the longest marathon caricature drawing,” he wrote.
It remains to be seen if the prestigious British reference book is aware of his attempt.
The current record was set by Indian artist Hariom Kumar Singh on November 11, 2017. He achieved the feat in 77 hours, 1 minute, and 16 seconds in Uttar Pradesh, India, from 8-11 November 2017.
Hariom completed 712 different caricatures during this time.
Enehe is now among the growing list of Nigerians who have attempted to set new world records since the beginning of 2023.
