The Kaduna state government has accepted to host the 2017 edition of the national festival of arts and culture (NAFEST).
This was made known at the 46th meeting of the chief executives of culture of the federation in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state.
Ahead of NAFEST, the Kaduna state festival of arts and culture (KADFEST) will hold from August 21-25, Daniel Dan-Auta, the commissioner of youths, sports and culture, has said.
“The festival would also serve as avenue to select entries for the state to participate effectively in the annual National Festival for Arts and Culture,” he said.
According to him, the participants drawn from the 23 local government areas of the state will feature in 10 competitive events.
He disclosed that the event would hold both at the Murtala Mohammed Square and Gamji Multi–Purpose Theater.
“It may interest you to know that each of the 10 competitive events will have a special guest, a chairperson, a coordinator and a panel of professional judges drawn from their relevant specialisations,” he said.
“This would enable the ministry to have credible winners in each of the events who will be further groomed after KADFEST to represent the state at NAFEST 2017.
“Based on these thrust, it is important for all local government areas to participate in all the 10 competitive events as prizes and certificates will be awarded both for wining and participation.”
