Sunday Asefon, president of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), says the body will get justice for Timothy Adegoke, the late student of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU).
Adegoke, a master’s degree student at OAU, was said to have travelled from Abuja to write an exam at the OAU distance learning centre in Moro, Osun on November 5.
The student, who had lodged at Hilton Hotel and Resort, Ile-Ife on November 7, was, however, declared missing — only to be found dead.
There have been claims that he was murdered
Speaking at an event at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) on Wednesday, Aseyon disclosed plans to meet Usman Baba, the inspector-general of police (IGP), in Abuja over the matter.
The NANS president also described the incident as “an injury to all,” adding that the association will fight till justice is done in the case.
“In the next two hours I will be with the Inspector General (IG), in Abuja on the issue of our brother that was murdered in Obafemi Awolowo University,” he said.
“And some people believe that they can do everything but we can tell them that an injury to one is an injury to all. If you don’t fight, you would not win but if you fight you will surely win.”
According to the police, Ramon Adedoyin, owner of the hotel where the deceased lodged, and six suspects said to be staff members of the facility have been arrested.
Williams Abiodun, the lawyer to Adedoyin, had also claimed that staff of his client’s hotel hid the corpse of Adegoke for fear of being arrested.
