The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has supplied equipment for the filming of ‘Eagle Wings’, a movie that followed the collaboration between Nollywood and the military.
Pictures from the forthcoming movie had made the rounds, as Enyinna Nwigwe, Femi Jacobs and other Nollywood actors were seen with sophisticated rifles, camo outfits, and armoured vehicles.
While addressing the press in Abuja on Wednesday, Paul Apel-Papel, the scriptwriter and director of the film, commended NAF for supplying equipment and logistics — being a military-oriented movie.
He said the support had come amid the movie’s shooting in Kaduna, Borno, Abuja among others, in a bid to better showcase activities of the military through the motion picture.
According to him, ‘Eagle Wings’ will be exploring “the often tragic, yet gallant fight for life, peace and national unity” by Nigerian soldiers.
“The ultimate goal of this movie is to show to Nigerians the efforts of this service in nation-building and for us also to know what they go through and the sacrifices they make,” Apel-Papel said.
“The officers themselves, the soldiers and their families and friends and that is basically what the story is about.
“The plot is about three brilliant course mates who are also best friends and are faced with a challenge in the course of doing their work and ended up rescuing a whole community.
“We put all these resources together to, first of all, tell a story that will draw the kind of emotions we expect and drive home the kind of message we want to reach Nigerians and beyond.”
