Farira Isah, a Nigerian divorcee, has requested a court order of child responsibility to Abubakar Hamza, her ex-husband, for their six children in her custody.
Isah spoke when she appeared before a Sharia court sitting in Magajin, Kaduna state, on Thursday.
She also told the court that she got divorced from Hamza on August 3, and a court granted her custody of six out of the nine children.
According to her, Hamza said he can’t provide food for the six children in her custody.
Isah also requested that Hamzat be banned from coming to her house and that he pays the sum of N6,000 monthly for each child.
“Hamza told me that he cannot feed the six. I want the court to order him to take that responsibility by paying N6, 000 monthly for every child and also to stop him from coming to my house every morning and night,” she said.
In his response, Hamzat, the defendant who resides in Kaduna, prayed the court to give him custody of the six children.
“I want to take care of them. I have three living with me. She is not capable of training them well,” he said.
After listening to both parties, Murtala Nasir, the presiding judge, ordered the defendant to bring witnesses on his claims that his former wife can’t train their children.
Nasir also ordered the defendant to stop visiting his former wife pending judgment in the case
He thereafter adjourned the case until August 26.
