Many Nigerians were thrown into a state of panic following the news that Mavrodi Mondial Moneybox, popularly known as MMM, was suspending further payment to existing members for one month.
Countdown to the Grammy Awards
Following several months of speculations, nominations for the 59th Grammy Awards which will be broadcast live on February 12, 2017, were filled with as much surprises as expected.
Leading the award nominations for this year is Beyonce, with a total of nine nominations including album of the year while Drake, Rihanna, and Kanye West were each nominated in eight categories.
Tekno drops ‘Rara’
Once again, buzzing singer, Tekno, dropped a new song ‘Rara’.
The song which was produced by Selebobo, saw him deviating from his usual romantic tunes, to reflect on the state of affairs in Nigeria.
Ghana got a new president
During the Ghana elections which saw Nana Akufo-Addo elected as president, Nigerians went on rampant Google searches to monitor proceedings.
Uyo church building collapse
A day that was meant to be a consecration into a life of service at the Reigners Bible Church International became a trending topic for tragedy after the church building collapsed.
The incident led to the death of several people.
Dana Air denied air crash
Dana Air came out to deny a newspaper report that one of its planes crashed in Lagos.
Refuting the report, the management of the airline company said the news was false, and that the pictures used along with the story was of a past incident.

Also trending this week were the English Premier League, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, Cristiano Ronaldo, who again won the Balon d’Or for the fourth time, and ‘The Ultimate Street Anthem’, a new song by Olamide and Burna Boy.
