Jaafar Jackson, the nephew of Michael Jackson, will take the role of the pop star in an upcoming biopic.
Jaafar is the son of Jermaine Jackson, the brother of Michael and a member of The Jackson 5.
The biopic titled ‘Simply Michael’ will be directed by Antoine Fuqua for Lionsgate,
Fuqua, in an Instagram post, said Jaafar will play Michael in the new movie.
“Proud to announce @jaafarjackson as Michael—the motion picture event that explores the journey of the man who became the King of Pop,” he wrote.

In a Twitter post, Jaafar also expressed his excitement about being cast in the new movie.
“I’m humbled and honored to bring my Uncle Michael’s story to life. To all the fans all over the world, I’ll see you soon,” he wrote.

The biopic will detail the high and low points of Jackson’s life, including his most iconic performances that led him to become one of the “greatest entertainers of all time.”
Jaafar has been singing since the age of 12. He released his first original single ‘Got Me Singing’ in 2019.
The 26-year-old has done music covers of singers like Sam Cooke and Marvin Gaye.
The role in the singer’s biopic marks his first major acting credit.
