The 11th edition of the prestigious Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) is scheduled to take place in Lagos on May 10, 2025.

Multichoice, the award’s organizers, held a press conference on Thursday to unveil the plans for this year’s ceremony.

The 2025 AMVCA will be a four-day celebration, running from May 7 to 10, and will honour outstanding achievements in film production, culture, fashion, music, and other aspects of African entertainment.

The nominations list will be announced on March 23 at 7 pm across all Africa Magic channels, and voting will commence immediately after.

This year’s ceremony will feature 28 voting and non-voting categories, including two special recognition awards.

Busola Tejumola, head of content and West Africa Channels at MultiChoice, emphasised the importance of recognizing African storytelling and its impact on global audiences.

“We honor the legacy of African storytelling, ensuring our stories remain in the spotlight for generations to come. Year after year, we are witnessing an explosion of high quality production from across the continent,” she said.

“African filmmakers are telling bold, diverse and compelling stories that captivate audiences both home and abroad. Make no mistakes, the world is watching.”

The winners in 18 categories will be decided by a panel of judges led by renowned film director and producer Femi Odugbemi, while fans will vote for the remaining 10 categories on the Africa Magic website.

Odugbemi also announced the introduction of a new category ‘Best Music Score’.
