In 2020, a musical based on the life of Michael Jackson, the late king of pop, will debut on the Broadway stage.
Jackson, at age 50, died in 2009 from an overdose of anesthetic propofol and sedatives.
The musical is a collaboration between the Michael Jackson Estate and Columbia Live Stage.
It will feature iconic choreography and some of the most popular songs of the legendary megastar.
Two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage is writing the show while Tony Award winner Christopher Wheeldon will direct and oversee the choreography.
The first time music from the king of pop was used in a stage production was in January 2009, when Thriller Live opened in London’s West End.
The Michael Jackson Estate has previously collaborated on a live tribute show by Cirque du Soleil called ‘Michael Jackson One’.
The show has been airing since 2013 in Las Vegas.
