‘Merry Men 2,’ a movie by AY, Nigerian comedian, is set to premiere on Netflix, an American streaming platform, on June 5.
The award-winning comedian, born Ayo Makun, took his social media page on Monday to break the good news.
In the terse post, AY and Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s chief content officer (CCO), can be seen posing for a photo with smiles etched on their faces.
“@netflixfilm CCO Ted Sarandos is in the building. Catch #Merrymen2onnetflix from this Friday,” he wrote on his Instagram page.
The development comes after the US media-services firm had acquired rights to the movie.
It also comes days after Moses Inwang, the movie’s director, had announced that the film would be on Netflix soon.
‘Merry Men 2’ featured several movie stars including Ramsey Nouah, Ayo Makun, Falz, Jim Iyke and Nancy Isime.
Others include Williams Uchemba, Ufuoma McDermott, Ireti Doyle, Regina Daniels, Linda Osifo, and Osas Ighodaro.
The action-comedy thriller has had a remarkable run since it premiered in cinemas in December last year, grossing over N100 million in its opening week.
Set in Abuja, the movie revolves around the adventure of four rich men Remi Martins (Falz), Amaju Abioritsegbemi (AY), Ayo Alesinloye (Ramsey Nouah) and Naz Okigbo (Jim Iyke) known as the ‘Merry Men’.
