Mercy Eke, the winner of the 2019 Big Brother Naija, says she wants her old life back owing to the highly demanding and even-crammed nature of stardom.
The reality TV star disclosed this in a video seen on social media.
Mercy said she wants her old life back because, prior to her emergence as a BBNaija star, she could sleep and wake up whenever she wished without having to pay attention to her “calendar” — unlike what is obtainable now.
“This thing it looks rosy on social media and it’s not rosy I think I want my old life back. I want to sleep wake up when I want, don’t have anything to do, don’t have a calendar,” she said in the clip which appears to be from a live Instagram session.
“Right now I have a calendar. it sucks like I hate yea I prayed for it but its too much. People keep telling me it will reduce and it doesn’t. It keeps getting worse I don’t have a life of my own anymore…like I feel like I want my old life back.”
On October 6, Mercy became the fourth winner of BBNaija after beating Mike and Seyi at the grand finale of the ‘Pepper Dem’ house.
She had, in an interview with Ebuka Uchendu, BBNaija host, narrated how she had auditioned four times in a row to become a housemate.
“I auditioned four times in a row. And, from that moment, I had already started getting myself ready without being paid or knowing id I’ll get in because I wouldn’t wanna be caught unawares. I was getting closed on, counting Sundays if I make it,” she had said.
Mercy’s victory came with N30 million, and a receipt of an Innoson SUV. She also purchased a luxurious apartment in Lekki, Lagos state.
