2Baba, the ace Nigerian singer, surprised fans on Friday with the release of a new song titled ‘Balling’.
The track, now available on major streaming platforms, serves as a lively anthem celebrating freedom, living in the moment, and protecting one’s peace.
With catchy lines, the singer croons about enjoying life to the fullest.
“I just want a good body eh/ I just wan dey feelirey/ I just wan dey chop money eh/ I just wan dey kpolongo/ I just want a good body eh (oh lalala)/ I just wan dey chop money eh (oh lalala)/ Off to the street I go/ Anwuranwu people I know/ Communication, interpretation, na/ Innocent must show/ Un top the beat I flow,” he sings.
Born Innocent Idibia, 2Baba is regarded as one of Nigeria’s greatest singers with a career spanning over three decades and adorned with numerous awards.
The release comes at a time when the artiste has been embroiled in highly publicised controversy with his wife Natasha Osawaru.
The saga erupted when two of the singer’s former managers accused Osawaru of attempting to seize “full control” over 2Baba’s finances and career during a live stream hosted by Daddy Freeze.
The situation took a dramatic turn when 2Baba joined the broadcast, demanding his ex-managers stop discussing his private life.
However, shortly after his intervention, a loud argument between him and Natasha became audible off-camera. Their voices grew increasingly heated before the live broadcast was abruptly ended.
Wading in, members of 2Baba’s family filed a petition to the inspector-general of police. The document accused Natasha Osawaru of assault, bigamy, and financial misconduct, alleging she physically attacked 2Baba in both the UK and Abuja and withheld his personal documents, including his passport.
2Baba, however, rejected his family’s narrative, arguing that their attempt to “save” him is destroying his life and “unfairly tarnishing Natasha’s character”.
The singer also called out his family for interfering in his marriage, alleging that his wife is receiving death threats.
2Baba recently apologised to the public over the issue.
