Linc Edochie, the Nollywood actor, has broken his silence on the death of Kambilichukwu, the first son of Yul, his brother.
Last week, the internet was inundated with reports of Kambilichukwu’s demise.
He was said to have developed a seizure while playing football with his colleagues in school.
Kambilichukwu was rushed to Mother and Child hospital in Lagos, where he was confirmed dead.
When contacted by TheCable Lifestyle, a very close associate of the family confirmed that the teenager slumped and died while playing football.
“He told me about what happened, he said my first son is gone, slumped while playing football in school. Got to the hospital, and he was gone,” the source had said.
In a video shared via his Instagram page on Monday, Linc described Kambilichukwu’s demise as “traumatizing.”
He said although the family is in a difficult situation, they will “emerge stronger from this.”
Linc also thanked well wishers for their encouragement, adding that “evil has an expiry date.”
“The last couple of days have been completely traumatizing. I’m not going to lie,” he said.
“But you know, the Bible says in all things give thanks to God. It is actually difficult practicing this because it is not easy.
“But still, the Bible does not lie. It says in all things give thanks to God. I pray that by the grace of God, we’re going to emerge stronger from this.
“But I also know that evil has an expiry date. Thanks for all the encouraging words and all the prayers and everything. May God bless you all.”
Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos police spokesperson, said there is an ongoing investigation to unravel the cause of Kambilichukwu’s death.
Hundeyin said there is also a need to conduct an autopsy.
“There’s need to carry out an autopsy to know what really happened. We can’t really say what happened until the autopsy is done,” the police spokesperson had said.
Kambilichukwu’s death comes about two months after Yul celebrated his 16th birthday.
“A very happy 16th birthday to my first son, Kambilichukwu Leo Yul-Edochie. May God lead and protect you always,” the actor wrote on Instagram.
Yul and May got married in 2004, after dating for six years.
Following Kambilichukwu’s demise, the couple’s children are now three — Dani, Karl, and Victory.
