Lateef Adedimeji, the Nollywood actor, has addressed the negative online comments about his family’s childlessness.
Adedimeji and his wife Adebimpe ‘Mo Bimpe’ Oyebade, a fellow actor, tied the knot in December 2021.
In an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Adedimeji revealed that some online users have criticized Mo Bimpe for not having a child since their marriage.
The 40-year-old movie star said a critic recently called his wife “barren”. He said he often tells Mo Bimpe to ignore them.
Adedimeji maintained that he does not feel pressured by the rumours about him and his wife. He emphasized that people do not know what they are going through or their plans regarding having kids.
“We have always been of the opinion about ourselves. We have conversations all the time. Recently, somebody still called her barren on social media. And she will be like ‘Ade, come and see. That is how they call me all the time. I would just be like leave them. They will be fine. When it is time, what will be will be. Just leave them,” he said.
“People do not know what you go through. People do not know your decisions. People do not know if you have decided, ‘Okay we are now married. Let us play for three years and maybe after, let us start thinking. What we are building is not what every other person wants to build.”
In 2022, Mo Bimpe opened up about her relationship with Adedimeji and how it led to their marriage.
A year later, she revealed that her parents had initially opposed her marriage to Adedimeji.
