Kunle Remi, the actor, has spoken about his omission from the 2023 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Award (AMVCA) nomination list.
The nominees for the 9th AMVCA were announced on Sunday by Bisola Aiyeola and Adjetey Anang, the TV stars.
But a noticeable omission from the list was Remi.
His absence from the list came after his sterling performance as ‘Saro’ in ‘Anikulapo‘ — a movie that snagged 16 nominations.
Some Nigerian movie lovers earlier registered their shock over his omission from the ‘Best Actor’ category.
Reacting in an Instagram post on Monday, Remi expressed gratitude for the support he has received from his fans and colleagues.
The movie star also congratulated his colleagues nominated for this year’s AMVCA Awards.
Remi joked about winning his category on May 20 — the date for the award ceremony — if he had made the nominees list.
“I have been seeing all the tags after the AMVCA nomination announcement. It would be nonchalant not to appreciate the love, calls and messages. Thank you kindred,” he wrote.
“First of, congratulations to all my friends/colleagues this year won’t be great without y’all’s amazing work and effort. God save una, cos if I Dey the categories I for win 😂😂😂 (Joke) before una say otherwise. Let the best man win.”
