The session was also a treasure trove of insights on the ever-evolving topic of ‘The Commercialization of African Music Genres and Opportunities for Brands and Artistes’.

In a statement, Amanda Uzoagba, head of licensing, West Africa, said: “With the global development of Afrobeats, we have seen a rising interest in genres coming out of Africa”.

Uzoagba said earlier this year, Mdundo “distributed over $1.5 million in royalties” to artistes and content partners.

“The opportunities are immense and ever-evolving, and Mdundo, as a leading music service provider, is at the forefront of these conversations,” he said.

On her part, Sowari Akwosionu, head of marketing and partnerships, Africa, said Mdundo is more than just a music service provider.

“The success we have achieved with Telcos across Africa is a testament to our unwavering commitment to delivering value for all our partners,” Akwosionu said.

Praiz speaking at the event

“We are a trusted value provider for our partners across the continent. This event is an opportunity to create a platform for knowledge sharing and relationship building between the music and telecommunications industries.

“With a staggering 35 million monthly active users on the continent, we are just getting started in activating the African music consumer.”
