Two months after earning the standing ovation of judges on America’s Got Talent, Kechi Okwuchi, a survivor of the Sosoliso plane crash, has advanced to the live show of the competition.
On Tuesday when she earned her qualification to the next round, she also received another standing ovation from the judges and the audience.
An excited Kechi took to Instagram to share the news and to thank everyone that helped make her “dreams come true”.
“Tonight was overwhelming… I got to watch the show with all the @shrinershospitals kids, fellow burns survivors, and it was just so fulfilling…and now. Live shows,” she wrote in part.
“I’m just so grateful to God, guys, for allowing me to get this far, and I’m eternally grateful to Seal and Simon for saying the words I needed to hear: that I deserved to be on the show based on my voice, not just my story.
“And thank YOU all, for being with me through this journey.”
Okwuchi was one of two survivors of the plane crash that killed 107 passengers in 2002.
Here’s the performance that got her into the next round of America’s Got Talent.
