Kanye West, US rapper and gospel singer, is set to take his ‘Sunday Service’ to Joel Osteen’s megachurch in Houston, Texas.
The prominent entertainment mogul and a choir will visit the pastor’s Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas, on Sunday, and perform by 7pm, Donald Iloff, Jr., a spokesperson for the church, told the Houston Chronicle on Tuesday.
“West is scheduled to have a 15-to-20-minute conversation with Osteen at the 11 a.m. service. Joel is still putting his questions together, but he will talk about Kanye’s journey to his faith,” Iloff said.
Osteen’s Lakewood Church, which boasts 45,000 members and his TV audience, which stands at 10 million in the U.S. alone, would likely be West’s largest ‘Sunday Service’ audience yet.
It is believed that Osteen’s motive is to allow his strong audience to hear how Kanye has overcome significant adversity in his life.
According to TMZ, “Ye and Joel have been talking fairly regularly recently … they’ve become friends, especially since Kanye has doubled down in his devotion to God.”
“Kanye used to be about nothing greater than himself. Now it’s all about a higher power,” a source was quoted to have said.
“BTW, Kanye has echoed this sentiment before. We’re told Joel will ask Kanye to contrast his life then and now.”
Following the release of ‘Jesus is King‘ album, West had indicated his interest to run for president in 2024.
He also said that he may legally change his name to “Christian Genius Billionaire Kanye West.”
