Kafayat Shafau, Nigerian singer and choreographer better known as Kaffy, has announced the demise of her mother at 82.
The 39-year-old dancer took to her social media page in the early hours of Monday to break the sad news.
She however, did not disclose the cause of her death.
“Mama has gone to Rest! #82,” she posted on Instagram alongside a video where her late mother can be seen flaunting some beautiful dance steps.
The death of the gifted dancer’s mother further stretches the list of people who have breathed their last to several diseases, including COVID-19, the disease caused by coronavirus, since the dawn of the year.
It also comes days after Destiny Etiko, Nigerian actress, buried her late father, who passed away earlier this month.
Born on June 30, 1980, Kaffy has had impressive stints as a dancer, leading her dance group to break the Guinness Book of Record for Longest Dance Party in 2006.
In 2019, she however, revealed that she had wanted to be an aeronautic engineer not a dancer.
“I wanted to be an aeronautic engineer; I never wanted to be a dancer. Let’s be real to ourselves, a lot of us went to school to study something but are not practising what we studied but the knowledge of that has helped,” she had said.
