The Kaduna government has directed public and private primary and secondary schools in the state to resume on September 12 for first term of the 2021/2022 academic session.
According to NAN, Hajiya Umma Ahmed, director-general of the state’s schools quality assurance, broke the news in the state’s primary and secondary 2021/2022 schools calendar released on Thursday.
Ahmed said the first term will run from September 12 to December 17 while the second term will commence on January 9, 2022 through April 8.
She also disclosed that the third term will start on August 6, 2022 till September 3.
“All public and private basic and post basic schools in the state are to comply with the provision of the calendar,” she said.
Primary and secondary schools were originally scheduled to resume for the third term of the 2020/2021 session on August 9.
But the state government had postponed the planned resumption of the schools amid rising insecurity in the state.
It is understood that there was no mention of third term of the 2020/2021 in the new school calendar.
NAN quoted a top government official in the state ministry of education as saying there would be no third term for the session.
The source said all the pupils will be promoted to the next class to enable the state to catch up with the rest of the states who have concluded the 2020/2021 session.
