John Dumelo, the Ghanaian movie star and politician, has lost his mother.
The actor took to his Instagram page on Wednesday to announce the demise of his mum.
Dumelo revealed his mother died on Tuesday. He, however, did not disclose the cause of her death.
The actor also described his mother as “my number one supporter,” adding that “heaven gained an angel”.
“My heart is broken. My dear mother passed away peacefully yesterday….my number one supporter. Heaven has gained an angel,” he wrote.

A plethora of friends and colleagues have taken to the comment section of the post to commiserate with the actor.
John Dumelo began his acting journey in 1991 with the movie ‘Baby Thief’ — while he was still in school.
He has also appeared in various Gollywood and Nollywood movies including ‘Away Bus’, ‘The Game’, ‘Black Men Rock’, ‘One Night In Vegas’, ‘The King is Mine’, and ‘Four Play’, among others.
Beyond his entertainment career, Dumelo has also ventured into the realm of politics.
In 2020, the actor contested in the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency election but was defeated by Lydia Alhassan.
Dumelo’s talents have garnered him numerous awards and accolades.
In January, the film star was recognized by the University of Ghana for his philanthropic efforts towards their students.
