Abdulrasheed Bello, the Nigerian singer fondly called JJC Skillz, has revealed why he celebrated Funke Akindele on her 45th birthday despite their separation.
On Thursday, the singer described Akindele as “my darling” in his birthday message to the actress.
His post had prompted a wave of conversations on social media pages, with some users wondering if the pair had resolved their marital issues.
But in a recent interview with the Television Continental (TVC), JJC Skillz said his experiences with his different baby mamas and the children they share influenced his birthday post to Akindele.
“A lot of people are quite shocked to find out that I’m human. To be honest, growing up in England and with my experience of having different baby mamas, the most important thing is the children,” he said.
“Just focus on the children and let all the drama go and most importantly, have the attitude of gratitude. We had almost seven good years of a lovely relationship. So Happy birthday to her and I wish her luck.”
The pair tied the knot in London in 2016 and welcomed a set of twin boys in 2018.
But in June 2022, JJC Skillz announced his separation from Akindele over “irreconcilable differences”.
Akindele, who is also the running mate of Abdul-Azeez Adediran, the Lagos PDP governor candidate, excluded JJC’s surname from her campaign poster.
