Jason Derulo, the American singer, and Jena Frumes, his girlfriend, have parted ways — four months after they welcomed their first child.
The 31-year-old singer broke the news on his Twitter page in the late hours of Thursday.
In the post, Derulo said they both decided to break up because they feel it will allow them to “be the best versions of ourselves.”
He, however, appealed to his fans and the public to accord them the “deserved privacy at this emotional time of their lives.”
“Jena and I have decided to part ways,” he wrote on Twitter.
“She is an amazing mother but we feel being apart at this time will allow us to be the best versions of ourselves and the best parents we could be.
“Pls respect our privacy at this time.”
The development comes barely a day after the pair, who shared the same birthdate, marked the occasion together in Colorado.
In a now-deleted Instagram post, Frumes had eulogised the ‘Swella’ crooner, saying he makes her whole. She added that she can’t wait to share more memories with him and their little son.
“Blessed to share the same day of birth with my lover. You are the most handsome, hardworking, talented, silly, loving human ever,” she had written.
“You truly make me whole and I’m so grateful for the love we share. You and our mini make me the happiest girl in the world and I can’t wait to make more memories with you guys.”
The couple started dating in March 2020.
Jason King Derulo, their son, was born on May 8 but the pair decided to keep the news away from social media to have private family time together. They, however, made it public on May 19.
