Janet Jackson, a pregnant 50-year-old singer, may have converted the Islam, her friends have told The Sun.
Jackson is expecting her first child with her husband Wissam Al Mana, a Qatari-born billionaire.
The Sun reports that Jackson’s close friends are confident that she has undergone full conversion to her husband’s religion.
Since going public with her pregnancy, the singer has been photographed clad in all-covering robes, which gave rise to talks of her possible conversion to Islam.
“When she’s visiting Wissam’s family in the Middle East she wears no make-up, no hair extensions and keeps to traditional Muslim clothing.
“She feels like she has found a home with her new religion. She has spent a great deal of time studying it. The days of raunchy dance moves and sexual lyrics are long gone,” a source told the newspaper.
If the reported conversion is true, Janet, who was raised a Jehovah’s Witness, has become the second member of her family to convert to Islam.
Jermaine Jackson embraced Islam after a visit to Bahrain as part of his Middle East tour in 1989.
In June 2010, he told the BBC’s Ed Butler that Michael Jackson, late pop legend, would have converted to Islam if he hadn’t died.
“I felt that if Michael would have embraced Islam he would still be here today. All of his security became Muslims because he trusted Islam, because these are people who would lay their lives down and also who were trying to be the best kind of human beings they could possibly be, not for Michael Jackson, for Allah,” Jackson had said.
