Jamie Foxx, the US actor and singer, has denied allegations of sexual assault made against him.
In a recent lawsuit, a woman, identified simply as Jane Doe, claimed that Foxx groped her breasts and genitals at a restaurant in New York City without her consent.
She alleged that the actor appeared to be intoxicated at the time. Doe also accused Foxx of moving her to a secluded area, where he allegedly assaulted her.
On Thursday, TMZ quoted a spokesperson for Foxx to have said the allegations in the lawsuit are “false and have no merit”.
The spokesperson also said a similar lawsuit was filed in 2020 and was dismissed soon after.
“The alleged incident never happened. In 2020, this individual filed a nearly identical lawsuit in Brooklyn. That case was dismissed shortly thereafter. The claims are no more viable today than they were then,” the spokesperson said.
Foxx’s career spans several decades and includes a variety of roles in film and television.
He first gained widespread recognition for his role in the 1999 film ‘Any Given Sunday’.
In addition to acting, he is a musician.
In April, the actor was hospitalised due to a medical complication but made a full recovery nearly three months later.
