Iyabo Ojo, Nollywood actress, has slammed Yomi Fabiyi over the comments he made on social media with respect to the alleged defilement of a minor by Baba Ijesha, their colleague.
TheCable Lifestyle had reported how the 48-year-old actor, whose real name is Olarenwaju James, was arrested for allegedly molesting a 14-year-old girl.
The drama between the Yoruba movie stars started when Fabiyi took to his Instagram page to call out those already judging Baba Ijesha when the court has not convicted him of the allegation.
He had also called for more precise evidence in the case, citing the instance of Baba Suwe, another movie star, who was detained in 2011 for allegedly being in possession of hard drugs but later released.
“Except a clear cut open evidence, confession or trial with guilty verdict, it will be malicious and pre-mature for any or as colleagues to draw conclusions. Being famous come with a lot of responsibilities. Please understand and be patient,” he had written.
“Lest we forget, many hurriedly condemned Baba Suwe on the drug issue due to the style of reportage, it was alleged he excreted 16wraps when NDLEA has no single pint of evidence from the day one of arrest or picture. We all know what happened after.”
In a follow-up post, he had also reiterated his earlier stance, noting that he remained unperturbed by the criticisms.
“I will continue to fight for what is right and I will never condone anyone reading negative meaning or isolate my words just to give a dog a bad name and subject to cyber bullying,” he had added.
“However, we all must be united on the bigger picture and the serious issue at hand. Focus to be hugely on the mental health of the minor and her guardians and not to twist words or engage in the needless drama of distractions. Count me out of social media or industry beef or recklessness
“Fair trial, protection of human rights, and justice is crucial for the public to be on the right path. Seek every protection to children and minors around you. Say no to rape, say no to sexual harassment, say no to child abuse.”
But in an Instagram video on Wednesday, Ojo tackled Fabiyi over his stance while accusing him of defending their embattled colleague.
She said it was unfortunate that Fabiyi as well as Foluke Daramola, another film star, would request more evidence to further substantiate the allegation.
Ojo recounted the pains she battled when she had a similar experience when she was eight-year-old, noting that such is not something anyone should attempt to defend.
She said she has seen the said CCT footage of the alleged defilement by Baba Ijesha, adding that anyone who sees such would never defend him.
“Yomi Fabiyi I wouldn’t go back and forth with you. Are you mad ni? You want to use me to catch cruise because I disagreed with you you said I’m shading you,” Iyabo Ojo said in the video.
“You escalated this rape issue if you didn’t put up a write up without proper investigation or going to the police station, I wouldn’t have done the video.
“You said they should release the video, if you’re the father would you do that, how would you think that girl would feel.
“Some people like you are asking for evidence to be posted online. If you didn’t do that write up I wouldn’t have done that video.
“I don’t have to call you behind closed doors, I’m different you cannot try me. Baba Ijesha has passed his boundaries so he has to be disgraced. Yes, Baba Ijesha is my senior colleague but I will not support rubbish because he is my colleague. I will not even support my children.
“I will not see something that is wrong and try to cover it up especially not for that child. Baba Ijesha is a disgrace to Yoruba industry, he has dragged us in the mud
“Yomi that your write-up is a flop, if you want evidence, call Princess or go to the police station and do your investigation rather than come on social media.”

Amid the ensuing drama, Daramola had also taken to her Instagram page to deny backing Fabiyi.
She said as a victim of rape, she was simply advocating for more evidence to ensure the matter could be properly pursued in the court of law.
The development comes at about the same time when Comedian Princess, another Nollywood actress, revealed that the minor allegedly defiled is her foster child.
