Iyabo Ojo has alleged that her family has faced death threats for her relentless pursuit of justice in the controversial death of late singer Mohbad.

Mohbad, a rising music star, died on September 12, 2023, and was buried the following day. The circumstances surrounding his death sparked widespread outrage, leading to the exhumation of his body for an autopsy.

Recently, social media activist VeryDarkMan has been engaging with some of Mohbad’s associates, reigniting discussions about the case.

In a viral video, a man identified as Saheed Jamiu was seen cursing Ojo, accusing her of involvement in Mohbad’s death and shielding Omowunmi, the singer’s partner, from police scrutiny.

Responding via Instagram, Ojo denied ever directly blaming anyone for Mohbad’s demise.

The film star explained that her initial emotional reactions were based on circulating videos at the time. She emphasised that her calls for justice should not provoke personal vendettas or attacks.

The 47-year-old actress revealed that she had formally petitioned the police for a thorough investigation into Mohbad’s death. She also stated her willingness to cooperate if summoned for questioning.

Iyabo admitted that her activism and political stance may have made her enemies, leading to severe threats. She said, despite the dangers, she has found solace in faith.

“…certain individuals have, over the years, consistently called for my death, the destruction of my source of livelihood, and have incited public violence against me and my children, all without any intervention from the authorities,” she wrote.

“It is, therefore, not surprising to now see coffins inscribed with my name, barefaced videos threatening my life and properties, and further confirmation that my family and business enterprise remain endangered.”

Last year, Iyabo had dismissed rumours linking her to Mohbad’s death, expressing frustration over the baseless accusations.

She also recently confirmed a fire incident that gutted her office space in Lagos.
