Tolani Otedola, Nigerian singer, says she is working on an extended play (EP) which would include her latest single ‘Liar’.
Tolani, daughter of Femi Otedola, billionaire businessman, who disclosed this during an interview on Arise News, likened her forthcoming body of work to a diary containing personal experiences which she would love to share with her fans.
The ‘Ba Mi Lo’ singer said that more details on her soon to be released EP will be available to the public within a short time.
“I’m working on my EP, I won’t tell you everything about it just yet but soon. It’s special to me and I hope it’s going to be special to you,” Tolani said.
“My latest single. ‘liar’ will be on it. I’ll like to describe it as a bit of a dairy. It’s very personal to me and I think a lot of people will relate to and I’ll love to share it.”
On her source of musical inspiration, the singer said seclusion stimulates her to communicate realistic situations through music.
“When you’re a musician, you’re always surrounded by music, you’re always surrounded by sounds, creative people, it’s a lot of noise. So you’ll really wanna switch off…I think that if you’re a creative, you’re always on the lookout for something that piques your interest and make you want to write, to sing,” the singer said.
“But I also get inspired by being alone, then you’ll get the power to reflect. Especially when I’m trying to write music coming from a place of trying to communicate something real, something you can feel. Being alone is also good.”
The eldest daughter of one of Africa’s finest magnates also spoke on the pressure that comes along with being a first child.
“I think that there’s just always that pressure whether perceived or real, you feel as if you have to be perfect, especially in Nigeria where your parents are like you’re a first born child and you might as well be your sibling’s mom. But I think there’s definitely that pressure, I’ve always wanted to be a good example,” she added.
Tolani is also a big sister to Florence Otedola otherwise known as DJ Cuppy, and Temi Otedola, a fashion blogger.
