With his head held up high, Segun Sheggz Olusemo strode into BBNaija’s Level Up house with the sole aim to clinch the N100 million grand prize. However, things didn’t go as planned as his journey on the show was cut short a week before the finale. In this interview with TheCable Lifestyle’s TAIWO OSHUNLOYE, the footballer speaks about his experience on the show, his relationship, his career, and his plans post-BBNaija.

TheCable Lifestyle: You appeared to be doing well before coming on the show, why did you take part in BBNaija?

Sheggz: I came to Big Brother Naija to level up. You know it’s ironic that the show is called level up. I’m just happy that Biggie gave me that opportunity to level up.

TheCable Lifestyle: What are the things you hope to level up on?

Sheggz: Just everything. I want to level up emotionally, financially, and spiritually, in every single way but obviously, I went on the show just to be a better version of myself and try to win the N100 million so I can make side investments. That’s why I was there.

TheCable Lifestyle: What part of these goals were you able to achieve?

Sheggz: I stayed there for nine weeks, met amazing people, met an amazing woman, and yeah, I achieved a lot just by being there.

TheCable Lifestyle: As a professional footballer, what wing did you play and can you mention the names of the clubs you’ve played for?

Sheggz: I was always a striker, a center forward. Well, I am a striker, number nine. Big Sheggz, big number nine.

I’ve played for different clubs. I don’t feel like I need to mention it. But it’s online, people will see it anyway but I’ve played for multiple clubs over the years.

TheCable Lifestyle: Do you plan to play for the Super Eagles?

Sheggz: I don’t know what’s going on, I got a knee injury right now and I’m acting in Nigeria. I’m working currently on my brand influencing. After I have my operation, I would see if I’m going to keep playing. I would also talk to my agent in England but for now, I’m not sure.

TheCable Lifestyle: Was it due to your injury that you moved to the entertainment industry?

Sheggz: No, I studied Communications, Media and Journalism at the university. So media has always been a part of me. My mum studied Mass Communication, my sister studied Public Relations. So yes, it’s just basically in my family.

TheCable Lifestyle: Your fans would love to know, what’s next for you.

Sheggz: Big Sheggz, I’ve got a series coming out, I’ve been in acting in a series I’ve been working on. I stayed in Lagos for four and a half months filming at the start of the year. It comes out really soon,

I’m trying to take on more roles, brand influencing. I’ve got a clothing line as well called Cozy Boys. That’s coming soon as well, so there’s a lot happening.

TheCable Lifestyle: Do you think Big Brother Naija is a reflection of society or it influences society?

Sheggz: I think it’s the two. This has been an amazing year for BBNaija. I think all the characters, and people that were put in there reflect what the world is right now. You see someone like Hermes being himself, a woman like Allysyn, Big Bella of course, Big Sheggz, everyone was different.

So I feel like that’s where we are in the world today. People are free to be themselves, look how they want to look, and dress how they want to dress. So I feel like we the housemates are the best example of where the world is right now.
