Alec Baldwin, the US actor, has broken his silence over the accidental shooting of a woman during the filming of ‘Rust’, a forthcoming movie.

TheCable Lifestyle had reported how the 68-year-old film star fired a prop gun which killed Halyna Hutchins, the movie’s director of photography.

Joel Souza, the film’s director, also sustained injuries during the incident which happened on Thursday at Santa Fe County in New Mexico.

In a series of tweets on Friday, the actor and producer said he is heartbroken, adding that there are no words to convey his shock regarding the “tragic accident” that killed Hutchins.

“There are no words to convey my shock and sadness regarding the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins, a wife, mother and deeply admired colleague of ours,” he wrote.

Baldwin said he has been cooperating with the police amid the ongoing investigation into the matter.

The film star also disclosed that he had contacted the deceased’s family to offer his support to them.

“I’m fully cooperating with the police investigation to address how this tragedy occurred and I am in touch with her husband, offering my support to him and his family,” he added.

“My heart is broken for her husband, their son, and all who knew and loved Halyna.”
